The name software business is totally portable. You can make it even more compact by using a laptop or notebook computer. The possibilities are endless.
I always tell everyone who asks me where I do business
"Any place that draws a crowd." Below is a list of ideas that will help you get started .
GOOD LUCK !
Flea Markets/Art & Crafts Shows/Street Festivals:

If your area has weekend flea markets that provide electricity, you're in luck. The average flea market booth rental is from $8 to $20 a day. This is probably the best place for you to test the waters and learn to use your name software system in public. This business concept originated in flea markets, so jump in there and give it all you've got !
Shopping Malls

If you haven't already seen them , there are hundreds of malls in the world offering this very concept and the majority are operating Ken Kirkpatrick's first name software or The Gift Factory personalized poetry software.
Don't be too afraid of mall rents. If the product is new to your area and you haven't seen it,chances are it will benefit you to be in a mall.
Average mall rent is @ $1000 to $2500 per month, and in a good mall , that's a fair price. In a 30 day month that's @ $33.00 - $84.00 per day.Think about that, that's not bad for an established retail location with an opportunity to sell for 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
We suggest you start out working the malls by yourself or use family members. Within a short time you should see if your making enough money to support employees. We service many owners who operate from 2 to 16 mall locations all fully staffed.
Web Site:

Web Sites can be both fun and rewarding. With todays technology, it is very easy to author and maintain your own web site without being a technical computer whiz.
Some factors to consider are;
- There is investment - you will pay for web hosting, shopping cart systems, credit card processing and most of all advertising. If you don't invest money in making your site easy to find across the internet then you might as well not have a web site.
- Patience/Endurance - You will need these attributes, as making money online is not a fast process.
This topic should probably have been included in the "Common Mistakes" section. It is a common belief that all one has to do is build a web site, post it to the net and wait for the money to roll in.
Many of our customers have made the mistake of believing this myth and wasted much time and money. The Internet can be a very lucrative place for some and a very lonely place for others.
SALES BROCHURES

Do not under estimate the power of a full color sales brochure. This is the least expensive form of advertising there is. If you don't invest in any other form of advertising, make sure you at least hand out sales brochures to prospective customers. If your brochure sits on your customers coffee table long enough, your bound to get some orders. This is what every advertiser wants, a catalog or picture of their products sitting on the coffee table in as many homes as possible. These brochures are your like your own personal "sales people" going home with your customers and selling your name software products.
Many of our customers get all of their business from these sales brochures alone. Also great for distribution and fund raising !
Family & Friends:
When your family and friends see how beautiful your new art backgrounds and products are, they WILL want some for themselves. They will also be a walking advertisement for you if you sell them a key chain or offer one free with the purchase of a greater item.
You might offer them commission if they show your name software brochures to their friends and family. This is a great way to get started and can generate a great deal of business.
Home parties:

Talk to a neighbor or friend , ask them if they will invite a few of their friends over so you can demo your personalized gift product line and show them your new first name software or poetry software. In return, you will give them free merchandise or a percentage of the sales. Everyone who attends gets a free gift that you make on your pc.
Give out your business card and use sales brochures with your own order form and distribute them at the party. Let the guests know that your are available for parties at their home and will give them the same deal. This works excellent for many products, especially for before Christmas and holidays. Believe it or not, this is a huge business. Tupperware has been doing this for decades.
Don't be afraid to give it a try !
Fund Raisers:

Talk with your local church /schools/associations/clubs etc. You will find that all of these types of groups have some sort of fund raising committee. You can easily distribute your sales brochures and order forms to them.
Offer them a percentage(10-20%) of your sales. Fund raising groups LOVE this because they are not required to purchase anything up front. Everything is ordered. When their fund raising campaign is over, they will not be eft holding any unsold merchandise.
Fund raising is a huge business !
There are literally thousands of groups trying to raise money for one cause or another.

RV Shows/Home Shows/Boat Shows etc.

There are many types of shows that will allow this type of product in. One of our customers is man who sells at gun shows. Remember, many people go to these shows with a friend. One of them is usually interested in the show - the other may be tagging along and they may stumble on to your booth. Check the internet all types of shows coming to your area.
Fairs/Street Festivals/ Art & Crafts Shows/Carnivals:

Many fairs and festivals will love to have you at their event.Always check with the management to be sure you will be the only one selling this type of product. When talking to the producers of the show put emphasis on your art backgrounds rather than your first name software. These types of shows want you to be involved with arts or crafts in some form or fashion.
Sporting Events/Little League/Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts:

These types of organizations are also interested in your products for fund raising, achievement keepsakes, awards and so on.
Run an ad, or visit their meeting places, hand out cards and brochures. If you have kids, check with the school and organizations they are involved with. This is an easy way to get your feet wet.We have a few customers who sell nothing but bobble heads and other novelties from All About Names. Remeber that you are in the "making money" busines, not just the " first name software" or "poetry" business.
Ad Specialties/Car Dealerships:

We know one couple who visited a local car dealership and convinced the manager to give a personalized key chain to every new customer. At the end of each week the dealership would give them the names of the people who bought cars that week. They made the key chains and delivered them to the car dealership and gave a small discount for the quantity ordered. In turn the customers wanted to know where the key chain came from, the dealership put them in contact with each other and . . . a new customer was born .
NOTE - Key Chains are not the only item you should offer, it just happens that cars and keys go together. The delaerships like this because you can add "Smith Auto Sales" to the personal sentiment line creating free ongoing advertising for the dealer.
Proms:

Proms are especially lucrative for this business. Most teenagers get their picture taken at the prom. You can offer them a nice frame with the schools prom theme in the sentiment line and since most of the pictures are taken right there (or you could use your own digital camera).
With your special hole cutter, you could add the picture to the scene $$$
Try getting in touch with the prom committee and see if they are interested in your services.Since proms are generally attended by large numbers of students, you can offer discounts on your products. Young adults love the name software products.
Do that math, what if you could sell a personalized gift to all 900 kids that attended the prom ?
Zoo's:

Believe it or not there are Zoo's that offer these personalized first name meanings and poetry products. Check with your local Zoo. They will sometimes offer space or places in stores wehere you can permanently set up shop for a small percentage or rental fee.
Hospitals/New Borns/Gift Shops

Take a visit to a local hospital or call the management offices. Suggest to them that they offer personalized first name baby cups, personalized poems and personalized birth announcements to new mothers.
If you have the money to produce a professional flyer you can achieve some great results. In the past decade, hospitals have been adding product advertising aimed at new mothers in with the "care bag" that they send new mothers home with.
Hospitals often give mommy a "parting gift". Choose one art background for a boy and one art background for a girl (keep it simple for the hospital). This may not work everywhere, but it has been known to work. Offer the hospital a discount for volume orders.
Gift Shops - EVERY Hospital has a gift shop. We have some customers who offer their gifts on consignment to the gift shops. Not only are new babies entering the world everyday but keep in mind that hospitals are mainly for sick people. Loved ones like to bring something sentimental to their loved ones staying in the hospital. The type of business you are in now, is PERFECT for this type of facility.
Unfortunately people die as well . . . Without a long explanation, we do know of one customer who makes his living selling this product to FUNERAL HOMES.
IDEA - This suggestion also fits the next category "mail order". Have you ever received the coupon packs in the mail that contains dozens and dozens of coupons from your local area merchants? In our state they call it "Val-Pak".
You may have even seen a coupon for a "Day You Were Born" product for $9.99.
Guess what? This is the same product as Ken Kirpatricks "The Birthday Chronicle". You can offer this to the hopsitals as a keepsake for mothers so they always remember what things were like when their child was born. Do this, or create a small coupon for this product and get it circulated in the "Val-Pak" type mailings or even inserted in the local sunday paper. You could also run a campaign like this with your first name software products.
MAIL ORDER

Let's not forget about mail order. Make some business cards on your computer or have them made at a an office supply store. The power of a business card lasts and lasts ! Make sure that your business card states that you do "mail order". You will get plenty of repeat customers by simply giving them your card.
Run an ad in a local thrifty type paper, (bargain shoppers etc) These types of ads are fairly inexpensive and can produce admirable results. If you have success with one publication, try another. After you have done a few, try the bigger papers. Make flyers, put them on cars in parking lots. Make certain your flyer urges people to call for your catalog or mail order brochure or to visit your web site.
All of this can be produced on your PC.
