Use your creativity, if you are not skillful at decorating, ask the advice of someone who is. About 80% of your customer base will be female, so create an atmosphere for women.

Use tasteful colors in your display, but try to stick to one or two colors. Go to a fabric store and buy material that resembles satin or velvet and use it on your tables, kiosk,cart, shelves etc. This looks great and is very economical.
Inside of your mugs and steins you should use a shredded spaghetti glitter which can be found at most party supply stores. Put paper towels in the mugs first, and then add the glitter, this saves you from having to use too much. There are many classy colors to choose from and you are now creating a beautiful personalized gift display.
Tip - Want to make more money ? ? ? Insert candy in your mugs and cups and sell the keepsake for even more money !
Honestly, if you show your products in public, remember that first impressions are everything !
A clever & tasteful display will be well worth your investment. The best thing you can do to a personalized product is "dress it up" .
You can sell a piece of paper by itself OR you can sell an art background in a DELUXE FRAME, a mat frame, jewelry box, clock etc.

MAKE SIGNS
Signs are VERY important. Notice the first picture above. There is a big bold statement that describes the name software business. A sign like that is not very expensive and is worth its weight in gold. You already have a computer, so use it to make smaller signs too. You can buy clipart programs in stores or directly over the Internet and add pictures or symbols to your signs.
Make signs that describe your product:
" SEE THE MEANING OF YOUR FIRST NAME "
" BET WE HAVE YOUR FIRST NAME !"
" THE MEANING OF ANY FIRST NAME NAME FROM COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD "
" PERSONALIZED GIFTS MADE HERE IN MINUTES ! "
"PERSONALIZED POETRY ON ART"
Have a sign made that has one of the sign ideas mentioned above. Make sure the sign describes what you do. If your sign is attractive and legible enough from a distance, people will come over to see what your sign says.
Another tip is to find an airbrush artist. You can find one in almost any flea market, mall or festival. You might get lucky and find a talented starving artist.They really do good work and can make your business look contemporary.
You can probably save 50% and higher with one of these guys as opposed to a sign shop! If you don't produce a sign like this you will be robbing yourself of reaching your highest potential.
FACT : Everyone likes to see or hear their own name ! It has been said that one of the sweetest things to a persons ear is . . . the sound of their own first name.
This fact is so important for you to take advantage of. A sign that reads "Bet We Have Your Name" will bring dozens of customers by that will say . . . .
" Bet you don't have my name "
Make Display Books (With All Of Your Art Background Choices)

The art backgrounds and your professionally made signs are all that you need to sell your products. We suggest that you plaster as many laminated art backgrounds as possible on your display.This combined with display books will keep you customers busy picking out the items they would like.
Get a couple of 3 ring binders and insert clear protective sheets in them and then add your art backgrounds to them. We also suggest that you DO NOT put any names on the art backgrounds in your display books.
You SHOULD add first names or personalized poetry to the laminated displays and on the rest of your display.
The reason for this is a little silly, but trust us, and do it this way.

When customers are flipping through your display books, they are interested in the art background that they will choose for themselves or their loved ones.

At this critical point, it is important that they are only thinking about the art background.

For example, if they like a certain art background, but they see a name on it that reminds them of someone they don't like, it could very well lose the sale for you. People are funny about names and you do not want them to associate your beautiful product line with a negative feeling.

ALWAYS start with your nicest art backgrounds up front.
A good idea is to present a comparison in your books of "what the other guy sells". There are many types of what we call "Cheap Stationary". We always have a few sheets of "the cheap stuff" in the back of our books. We use these to point out the quality of our art backgrounds compared to what our competitor sells (even if there is no competitor).
There are vendors out there that sell this cheap stationary all the time. This is a big mistake. We guarantee that by offering a higher end product you will create a higher perceived value. You will sell many more products and enjoy much higher profit levels selling your quality products versus the competitors "store bought" stationary.
This also makes the business look cheap !
If everyone chose to make cheap products versus high quality personalized gifts, we would all be out of business in a short time. The folks who are doing this are taking the "special" out of this "specialty" business.
What you should think about here is this . . .
Most every household in this country now has a computer and a printer. When you present this product on store bought stationary , it takes away the value and uniqueness of your products. When you only offer this cheap stationary, the customer gets this message;
"I don't need to buy this, I can make this at home on our computer for less !"
You can stand out above the rest by only offering quality first name software products that they cannot make at home on their PC. Many of our customers have made this mistake and don't understand why. That's why we have customers that are in this business for only a few months versus customers that have been in this business for as long as we have.
It's up to you. You need to keep yourself a cut above the rest and take pride in what you have to offer. You need to remind yourself of this...

Ask yourself what you would rather receive as a gift . . . A product on cheap stationary with not much thought put in to it OR . . . a "dressed up" high quality personalized keepsake ? This is how you MAKE MONEY!
Make Matching Display Items Make a baby display. Take a visit to a dollar store and you should find a wide array of baby decor. Use little miniature cribs , plastic babies, baby bottles etc. in your baby cup & baby poem display.
Use your imagination. The key is for your display to scream out . . . .
"Hey , we sell items for babies too ! "
Put like items in groups. For instance, if you have a Teddy Bear print and you can make a key chain, mug, clock, calendar, jewelry box, T-shirt, coaster, stein, can cooler, baby cup or frame out of it (WHEW !!!!) - Then put them all in groups throughout your display. This lets the customer know how many different options are available for that particular art background.
Sometimes it is important to realize that having slower selling products on your display is still a good idea. It's the entire visual effect and the magnitude of your products that will pull them in. Just like a baby, you are trying to milk as much money out of your name software as possible. |
