THE BIGGER THE BETTER            

 

We suggest that you use every available inch of display space. Make display key chains and scatter them around.Make display mugs,baby cups,jewelry boxes,coasters,organizers,calendars etc.

You want to create a frenzy (not a mess),and use as many first names,(especially uncommon names or spellings) as possible. You can build your display little by little if your budget won't allow you to do so right away. Add a new display item per week until you have a nice display. 

The biggest problem people have in this business
 is their display and presentation of products.

Your investment in a nice display is NOTHING compared to the return that it produces for you.


CELEBRITIES ?
 

That's right ! Don't go overboard , but use a few celebrity names for
your display. We have found that even an un-interested customer will
stop to read a plaque that is displayed " Sonny & Cher " with a tag line
 of " I got You Babe". 


Try Bill & Hillary . . . it works !!! 

Stay away from controversial celebrity names like O.J. & Nicole etc.
(NOT FUNNY)


Make your display STAND OUT

Go to a local party store and look around. You will find all kinds of marvelous inexpensive items that you can use to spice up your display !

Use balloons ,streamers, confetti , etc. If a holiday is close,then plan your display around that. Even though your business has nothing to do with the 4'th of July,but the red , white and blue will certainly attract attention. 

Get the picture???


FANCY PICTURE KEY CHAINS:

In addition to your stock key chains, (which you can make on plain type stationary) you should make what we call  . . . "Fancy Picture Key chains"!

Take "The Ocean's Rose" art background for example.

 

  • This is simple.Choose an area on the background that has free space
    the same size as your key chain (2x3) or bigger. We suggest position
    number one. Next,run the background through your printer in the position selected (only one position is necessary).
  • Now,place your key chain lid over the Rose and trace around the lid.
    Cut the rose out. Use the Rose for the back of the key chain and the first name printout for the front (in other words,don't use the both sides
    of printout).
  • Place or tape them back to back and you have a "Fancy Picture Key
    chain".You can charge $7-$8.00 for this style of key chainYou can make many different style key chains out of just one art background!

Try a "Teddy Bear" or a "Rainbow Bear" key chain!

Better yet . . . . Make a sign that says;"We have " Teddy Bear " or "Rainbow Bear" Key Chains and watch what happens $$ 

You will hear customers walking by saying 'What the heck is a Rainbow Bear Key Chain ? " Their own curiosity will force them to your display.Be Careful, you might just start the next fad.

Add a real photograph , most wallet size photos will fit in your key chain.


Here is another area where many vendors lose the point. 

You are in business to sell products and make money . .. right ? 

Always remember that most every product designed for this business was originally designed for photo insertion. There is no law that says you must put a name or a poem in all of your products. Let your customers know (by display) that you can also turn the photos of their loved ones into a unique keepsake. This is a smart idea and one that also saves you materials cost and takes no tme at all.

Examples;

  • Make a jewelry box with nothing but a 5 x 7 photograph in it.
  • How about displaying photo coasters ?
  • What about clocks with photos inserted ?
  • Make a small display of photo Christmas Ornaments !
  • Here is a big one . . . Mouse Pads with photos inserted.
  • Think of all the people in the world that would like a gift like this!


    Here's another:

    We get many calls from customers saying " I like the bobblehead product, but I can 't use them because I can't fit a name or a poem in them"

This vendor is making a crucial mistake !
Bobble Heads are meant for photo insertion only. Use your retail space for making "personalized gifts".Adding a photo to a product does create a personalized gift. Know this and you will increase your sales. Do not pigeon hole yourself by limiting your product line to only names and poetry gifts.

The list goes on but the point here is simple;

 It is up to you, the vendor to
show the public what they want

These types of personalized products are items that the average public does not think about on their own. If you use your creativity to show them the possibilities, you will increase your sales 10 fold.Just try it and you will see what I mean. You limit yourself and the your potential gain by neglecting this very important issue.

Another important tip about display is YOU !

You can let the product sell itself OR you can be a salesperson. Your sales will increase greatly if you are excited about your product.As people walk by,ask them if they have ever seen this before.Ask them if they know what their first name means.If they are purchasing a gift for someone ,ask them what the occasion is. Get involved,customers appreciate that. Remember,you are dealing with ego here.

Armed with the knowledge that everyone loves to hear or see their own first name (or the name of a friend or family member),you can become a pro at this and turn one sale into several sales by simply getting the customer involved.We have found that many of our vendors do not turn their monitors towards the consumers. This is mainly because they do not want the public touching their equipment. 

We urge you  . . .  

DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE ! ! !

It is very important to let your customers get involved and even more important to let them preview the name on the screen.Remember, this is an impulse buy, and when they see their first name on the screen (in lights) it does something inside that makes them want the product. This also puts you in a great position to sell your product by bonding with the customer and asking them questions . . . 

The great communicators of our world use this technique. Ask questions, get the person talking about themselves or their loved ones, then do less talking and more listening. Now you will be on a personal level with them and this makes them feel special as opposed to purchasing an item from the shelf.
